About this site

Machishirabe lists, for each of Japan's 1,741 municipalities, the programs that differ from place to place and the basic figures, one page per municipality.

The data comes from national surveys and statistics: the Children and Families Agency's survey of child medical subsidies (municipal form) and the Statistics Bureau's e-Stat "Statistical Observations of Municipalities". Nothing is estimated or filled in by guesswork.

Program conditions are transcribed as published. This site does not judge whether you qualify or how much you would save. Always confirm the current conditions on the municipality's official website.
